6. Conclusion

The urgency of climate change and the decline in biodiversity call for action. Ecological engineering is a tool that can help restore and preserve ecosystems. More and more projects are emerging, supported by bodies such as the French Biodiversity Office's Ecological Engineering Resource Center.

However, it is essential to use this science intelligently, hence the association with the principle of eco-design. This concept allows us to ask ourselves essential questions throughout the project, in order to limit environmental impacts and correctly choose the materials used, so as to reduce the harmful consequences on ecosystems.
