2. Main mechanisms of action of biostimulants
As mentioned above, biostimulants are extremely diverse in nature, and so are their mechanisms of action. Following the arguments developed by Yakhin et al. , we prefer to speak of "mechanisms of action", reserving the term "mode of action" for the precise function of a given molecule. It is therefore not possible to speak of a biostimulant's "mode of action", since its beneficial effects are always the result of complex mechanisms.
