6. Conclusion
What does the future hold for biostimulants in the context of agro-ecology and the circular economy? The current economic and social context is favorable to the development and use of biostimulants. On the one hand, consumers are looking for healthy, if not exclusively organic products, and tend to favor local sourcing. In this context, the use of so-called "chemical" pesticides is reduced, which tends to lower crop productivity and therefore favours the use of biostimulants, which mobilize nutrients that are not readily available in the soil. What's more, although the claim that biostimulants have a beneficial effect on increasing plant resistance to biotic stresses is prohibited by regulations, this type of beneficial effect has already been reported in the scientific literature.
