5.1 Reporting incidents and accidents
In the introduction, the importance of feedback was mentioned as a means of improving the safety of transporting radioactive substances. In France, the aim of collecting and centralizing information on incidents and accidents is to encourage this feedback.
The regulations stipulate that consignors of packages of radioactive substances must declare to the competent authorities any event that may occur during transport, whether or not it has radiological consequences. Events can be of several types:
non-conformity of the packaging or contents with general regulations or with the requirements of the package design approval;
