However, as with all standards, there is an introductory phase during which companies adopt the standard step by step.
Each company in a supply chain has the flexibility to develop policies, processes and software solutions that match its own trade-off between level of investment and desired level of automation.
It takes time for all supply chain participants in a particular sector to adopt the smartPCN standard, but the benefits to a company are real and depend on its role within the supply chain.
For example, table 1 describes the benefits that can be achieved by all the players in a supply chain. All these players should benefit from the automation of smartPCN processing.
