5. Medical data exchange

International standards for healthcare technologies and services cover three areas:

  • global management of healthcare systems, using IT to optimize national infrastructures;

  • hospital management (e.g. management of care procedures), medical analysis laboratories and medical equipment production;

  • the technical performance and safety features of medical devices.
