4.1 The zinc powder market

As zinc powder obtained by electrolysis in a basic medium has no equivalent on the world market, we present below the market for so-called classic zinc powders (spherical or lamellar). This market is divided into four sectors.

  • Cementation

    European zinc producers operating electrolytic processes requiring zinc powder as a purification reagent use around 70,000 tonnes of zinc powder annually. However, most of them have zinc powder production integrated into their process, enabling the plant to be self-sufficient in this reagent.

  • Anticorrosion paint
