In the aftermath of the Second World War, two centuries of history have weighed heavily on the figure of the engineer, crowned with glory in the face of the technological feats achieved up to that point. This is why, although these feats have been questioned since the beginning of the industrial era , all the reflections and questioning developed since the 19th century around the potential harm to man and his natural and social environment caused by scientific and technical work have long gone unheard, and seem to have been totally overshadowed by the march of progress and social modernization.
