5. Conclusion
This article is a non-exhaustive review of the latest advances in our understanding of the formation mechanisms of biomineralized systems. The focus here is on two minerals, one crystalline and the other amorphous. During these processes, similar mechanisms were observed between the two minerals. Firstly, all the formation mechanisms identified show the importance of the interaction between organic and mineral matter. In both cases, the possibility of reorganizing the organic mold seems to have a significant influence on the final mineral structure and its hierarchical morphology. It therefore seems clear that, in the near future, molecular dynamics simulations will play a crucial role in understanding biomineralization mechanisms and possibly in predicting the resulting forms.
