The many factors influencing road noise nuisance are now considered by national, European and international bodies, as well as by industry through standardization (AFNOR, CEN or ISO), and are the subject of appropriate solutions (French decrees and orders, Brussels and Geneva regulations and directives):

  • driver behavior (speed limits, illegal vehicle modifications, etc.);

  • fleet status (certification, inspection of vehicles in use, proportion of new vehicles, etc.) ;

  • road infrastructure (type of pavement, noise barriers, etc.) ;
