5. Conclusion
The sole aim of this article is to show just how powerful and complex a tool vibration analysis is - much more powerful and complex, for example, than a simple temperature reading or auditory sensation. Moreover, considered the main pillar of condition-based (or predictive) maintenance and failure prevention, mainly on rotating machines, vibration analysis is undoubtedly the most diversified and best codified technique, and the one that enables us to go the furthest in diagnosing "production- or quality-critical" machines. In our opinion, the difficulty today lies in the user's choice of techniques to implement (or subcontract), depending on the economic stakes involved. It's probably overkill to install envelope detection monitoring on a fan or an auxiliary pump (simple machines), just as it may seem risky to be content with global level monitoring on a gearbox or a compressor (machines...
