5. European and international cooperation
LNE is France's sole contact with European and international metrological bodies (General Conference on Weights and Measures, consultative committees of the International Committee for Weights and Measures). It appoints leading scientists from RNMF laboratories to represent it on these bodies. The RNMF is represented on all advisory committees and chairs several working groups. This presence enables it to ensure consistency with its counterparts in the implementation of the International System of Units (SI) and the mutual recognition arrangement for calibration and measurement certificates (arrangement drawn up by the CIPM in 1999 and signed by the majority of signatories to the Metre Convention and associates).
