2. Scope of recognition agreements
The aim of the MLA is to facilitate the free movement of goods and services and also to remove technical barriers to trade by creating acceptance and confidence in accreditations granted by accreditation bodies and in conformity assessment activities carried out by accredited conformity assessment bodies.
The EA Multilateral Agreement (EA MLA) is a multilateral arrangement between EA members by which the signatories recognize and accept :
the equivalence of accreditation systems developed by signatories ;
the reliability of conformity assessment results (e.g. a report or certificate) provided by a body accredited by the signatories for the fields corresponding to the services.
