2. The BIPM's role and objectives

The BIPM aims to be universally recognized as the international reference organization for the world's measurement system.

Its mission is to work at the international level with the national metrology institutes of its member states, the regional metrology organizations and its strategic partners, and to leverage its status as an international, impartial organization to promote and advance the global comparability of measurements for scientific discovery and innovation, industrial production and international trade, the improvement of quality of life and the preservation of the environment.
