3. BIPM scientific activities

The scientific work carried out by the BIPM focuses on the coordination of international comparisons of national measurement standards of the highest priority, and on the work required for this purpose. The BIPM therefore has the specific equipment and know-how required to carry out these activities on a cost-sharing basis, and in some cases must establish and maintain appropriate reference standards. The BIPM is therefore in a position to offer certain specific calibration services to its member states.

The BIPM's scientific departments report on their research work in a series of BIPM reports , as well as in articles published in the scientific literature.
