2. Data models

The contribution of CAD to part inspection, or more precisely to dimensional metrology, involves the definition of data models and the establishment of "standards". These models, mainly developed in the academic field, enable us to define a data architecture between the various objects to be considered between the specification and dimensional metrology domains. The establishment of "standards" or norms consists in developing a common language for specification and metrology. This language must be neutral. Part metrology means the metrology of specifications applied to the nominal (CAD) geometry of parts.
