2.1 Principle of European regulations
The representative authorities of the Member States of the European Union have harmonized national legislation on non-automatic weighing instruments (NAWI). The regulations apply to safety, the environment, health and consumer protection.
The aim of the new approach to harmonizing national legislation for NAWIs is to lay down essential metrological and performance requirements to guarantee effective protection for users and consumers, and to establish rules and procedures for certification.
