6. Estimating uncertainties

6.1 Propagation of uncertainty

The calibration certificate provides the uncertainty of calibration of the standard which will in turn be used to calibrate other instruments, or to make pressure measurements in a specific application. This uncertainty is, of course, an estimate of the uncertainty of the instrument under the environmental conditions of the laboratory in which it was calibrated. It is also an estimate at a given point in time, as only the user has in his possession the elements concerning the long-term behavior of his instrument.
