5. Calibration and verification methods

5.1 Experimental set-up

Figure 3 shows, by way of example, a schematic diagram for calibrating a gas pressure measurement instrument. The pressure source is usually a nitrogen cylinder. Two regulating valves, whose characteristics will be adapted to the pressure to be generated, are used for rapid pressure rise and fall respectively. A variable volume allows the dead volume of the system to be varied, thus creating fine variations in pressure.
