5. Testing and calibration

5.1 General considerations

We're going to devote a major section to these calibration operations, for three key reasons:

  • This is the most important operation in the manufacture of the DEM. It ensures the accuracy and durability of the equipment (remember that the DEM is a metrological instrument purchased to make the most accurate measurement possible);

  • This is the most expensive part of the sensor manufacturing process. To avoid unpleasant surprises, choosing the right supplier is essential;

  • this is the most complex, least "transparent" operation in the construction of the DEM, so it's the one you need to pay close attention to.
