3. Development of control architectures

In order to meet all challenges, robotics is currently faced with a fundamental question: how to develop standardized and comprehensible control architectures, based on reusable and reliable software entities, with the following corollary questions:

  • what programming/layout paradigm should be used to develop or model control architectures?

  • how to capitalize on architectural design know-how?

3.1 Software components

While the work presented above demonstrates the great diversity of past and current proposals, the general trend in robotics is to use the paradigm of software components.
