6. Conclusion
As the last unoccupied zone of the electromagnetic spectrum, the THz range is beginning to show its potential for very high-speed wireless communication systems. The development of the first THz communications began mainly with systems based on III-V GaAs, InP electronics, due to their superior dynamic and power performance in the frequency ranges under consideration, laying the foundations for these systems.
These initial systems, obtained in a laboratory environment, have already evolved considerably. However, many technological developments remain to be made (on mass-market technologies), and usage scenarios have yet to be defined or specified. At present, while the cost of these cutting-edge technologies could be absorbed on network cores, it would be more difficult to do so for mass applications.
