6. Profibus-DP
The Profibus-DP protocol is designed for industrial single- or multi-master master-slave control applications, for the management of I/O equipment on a multidrop bus of up to 126 stations, with extremely short access times, based on cyclic and acyclic services.
6.1 Single-master and multi-master modes
In single-master mode, a single master manages bus operation and accesses connected slave devices. Slave interrogation cycle times are kept to a minimum. Slaves are usually remote I/O blocks.
