2.1 C language

The C language [H 3 068] was developed in the 1970s as an implementation language for a fledgling operating system: Unix. Derived from a non-typed language, BCPL, it was given a typed structure and quickly became the benchmark procedural language and the dominant tool for programmers for decades.
