8. Measuring equipment

To help the reader carry out a simple calibration, we propose to present that of a 20 kg gray cast-iron weight with a view to its classification as M 1 ; for further details, the reader may refer to the box at the end of the article.

The advantage of using weights, rather than masses, is that they are manufactured in accordance with the rules laid down by the OIML and transposed into national law (see Box 2).
