1. Principle
GDOS makes analytical use of the phenomena that take place in a discharge source. We will describe the macroscopic operation of a schematic discharge tube, before detailing the microscopic processes of ionization and light excitation of the particles present in the particular sources used in optical emission spectrometry, operating in an "abnormal" discharge regime.
