Still with the idea of superimposing a linear temperature ramp and a non-linear variation as a function of time, a number of manufacturers can offer modulation options other than sinusoidal modulation.

5.1 Step-Scan® process

In this process, developed by PerkinElmer for power-compensated DSCs, the sample is subjected to a succession of short heating intervals followed by isothermal steps (figure 25 ). The low inertia and rapid response of the two furnaces enable this temperature program. The method offers several advantages:
