7. Recent developments and selected applications

GC-MS is now a fully mastered technique, both in terms of design and use. Today's mass spectrometers can be adapted to all the situations offered by recent advances in GC, in particular multidimensional chromatographic analysis, known as GC×GC, which has been connected to quadrupole analyzers [77] , but which finds its full expression in coupling with time-of-flight analyzers [78][79] .
