9. Conclusion

From the point of view of laboratories measuring radioactivity in environmental matrices, the post-accident phase of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency is essentially characterized by an influx of samples that may have higher activity levels than those normally encountered, and for which analytical results will be requested within significantly shorter timescales than those practiced on a routine basis.

The ability of laboratories to meet the expectations of analysis prescribers depends on the adaptability of existing structures to absorb this flow of special samples in an unusually short timeframe, while ensuring the quality of metrological services at the expected level, and the preservation of the measurement tool for the duration of the crisis.
