8. Alternatives to laboratory accreditation

8.1 For testing laboratories

In fact, there is very little alternative for a laboratory to obtain recognition other than through accreditation. Testing laboratories involved in conformity assessment can obtain recognition from certain bodies involved in product certification, such as :

  • Underwriters Laboratories Inc. product certification ® ;

  • the Geprüfte Sicherheit "Tested safety": the GS mark is a voluntary certification mark which certifies that a product meets German safety requirements and, where they exist, European standards.
