1. Keplerian movement

The Keplerian model, although highly simplified, can be used to determine a first approximation of a satellite's real motion. The main definitions and properties are recalled in this section.

1.1 Keplerian model

Keplerian motion is the solution to the two-body problem. It corresponds to a simplified ideal model assuming two particles M 1 and M 2 of respective masses m 1 and m 2 exerting between them the gravitational attraction force of expression :
