The decision to use air freight to transport goods is the result of a convergence between the major characteristics of this mode of transport and the expectations and motivations of customers.

1.1 Special features of air freight

They derive from the physical and economic characteristics of aircraft as a means of transporting goods. Seen from this angle, airplanes go fast, they're safe, they offer relatively more volume than weight, and they're rather expensive.
