4. Main measurement techniques

4.1 Effort measurement

In wind tunnels, the force exerted by the flow on the model as a whole, or on part of it, is often an essential measure of a test. These forces are measured by instruments called "balances". . These are the parts through which the connecting force between the "weighed" model and its "non-weighed" support is transmitted. Obviously, the measurement is only correct if all the force between the weighed and unweighed parts passes through the balance. To achieve this, you need to avoid introducing any parasitic rigidity into the unavoidable electrical and pneumatic connections...
