4.1 General principles of the "Technical Admission" process for rolling stock
To be authorized to operate on the rail network, rolling stock must demonstrate compliance with the National Reference Documents (DRN) applied by Member States for placing vehicles in service.
The DRN, drawn up in accordance with the provisions of European Commission Decision 2011/155/EU of March 9, 2011 on the publication and management of the reference document for national rules, includes all the recommendations for rolling stock design (technical specifications for interoperability (TSI) and non TSI: material acceptance specifications (MAS), reference systems).
