6. Conclusion

This overview of LCA studies on electric vehicles highlights the complexity of the subject. In particular, it shows that simply replacing combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles is not a solution that meets the environmental challenges of the 21st century, and is even likely to generate new problems when the multiplicity of potential impacts is taken into account.

The analysis of these studies also highlights the need to consolidate assumptions, data and methodological rules to make LCA results even more robust – This is all the more necessary given the emergence of other energy vectors in mobility, such as hydrogen, whose quantified balances
