2.1 Fuel cell cell voltage
By applying the first and second principles of thermodynamics to a system of this type, we can calculate the voltage as a function of the thermodynamic equations characteristic of the system and the sources of entropy generated by the irreversible processes internal to the system.
A half-reaction takes place on each electrode, whose potential is expressed as follows:
