Coinciding with GHG and air pollution issues, existing, yet-to-be-developed and yet-to-be-discovered conventional oil fields are likely to have started declining around 2011 (what some are calling the long-awaited peak oil). Figure 5 shows that, apart from condensates (natural gas liquids) and unconventional crudes, total crude oil production has reached a plateau.
