7. Semi-solid preparations
Semi-solid preparations are ointments, creams (thickened emulsions) or sterile gels for application to the conjunctiva. Introduced into the conjunctival cul-de-sac, they spread naturally with the blinking of the eyelids. The effect is more prolonged than with eye drops, thanks to a longer residence time in the cornea (figure 5 ).
