3. How can we reduce our environmental impact?

Strategies for reducing the potential impact of anticancer drugs on the environment are manifold and can be envisaged on several levels. Here are a few examples based on :

  • pharmaceutical innovation, with greater emphasis on the development of "green" biodegradable drugs. In the case of anticancer compounds, glufosfamide, whose structure is almost identical to that of ifosfamide, is more biodegradable than ifosfamide, without losing the efficacy of its original structure ;

  • communication campaigns, to raise awareness of the need for rational use of medicines...
