4. Construction of biosensors based on olfactory receptors

The growing number of nano-sized biosensor applications for disease detection is the result of a significant increase in the number of scientific publications concerning nanobiotechnologies and nanomedicine. As the size of these sensors decreases, the sensitivity and stability of the devices improve, enabling them to be used in real time and/or in situ in complex environments. The analytical performance of biosensors is enhanced by combining new nanomaterials with microfluidics, to build miniaturized medical devices for applications in precise diagnosis and early screening, the identification of biomarkers associated with different stages of disease, and the characterization of new therapeutic targets.
