5. Glossary

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) involves administering a preparation of fecal matter from a healthy subject to a patient suffering from a pathology linked to an alteration in their intestinal microbiota, with the aim of therapeutically eliminating the dysbiosis responsible for the condition.

By analogy with vaginal dysbiosis (vaginosis), transplantation of the bacterial ecosystem of healthy women is also envisaged.

Finally, the transplantation of skin microbiota from healthy subjects is the subject of research into patients suffering from psoriasis or atopic dermatitis.
