7. Review and outlook
Since the 1960s, a great deal of technological innovation has been achieved through digital simulation. CAD/CAM modeling and digital simulation tools have revolutionized the design and production of mechanical systems. The increasing computing power of computers and supercomputers and the development of simulation algorithms and software have accelerated the use of these technologies in almost all industrial sectors. All systems, subsystems and components are modeled and simulated in their environment, with the aim of validating product design through virtual prototyping. This is a major challenge in terms of economics, technology and competitiveness.
