CFD

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation involves using a calculation code to solve the equations governing the flow of a fluid, otherwise described by its behavior law and the volumes in which it flows. The finite volume technique is the most widely used in CFD for applications of interest to engineers.

CFL

Numerical simulations of propagative phenomena, as encountered in fluid mechanics for example, are limited by an essential constraint: the time resolution step is imposed by the spatial resolution, so that the calculated information must not propagate at a speed greater than that of a mesh of space per calculation time step; otherwise, the simulation loses all meaning.
