3. Conclusion
Moulded plywood is the main application for a strong European species, beech.
By slicing it into veneer by peeling like a pencil sharpener, then gluing and pressing it into a shaped, heated mold, we obtain curved, strong plywood used in seating, bed slats, fixtures and other specific applications.
This technique is used worldwide. Relocations to Eastern Europe or Asia for large-scale production, particularly for collective housing, could be reversed for reasons of quality and rising costs in these countries, where wood has to be imported from our own countries.
Fashion-related small series with higher margins require such experience that they could not be outsourced.
