2.1 Cellulose

Cellulose is the most abundant polymer on earth. Its structure is flat and linear, made up of anhydroglucose units (AGU), with a molar mass of 162 g/mol, linked together by β-1,4-glycosidic bonds . Its abundance is around 40-45% in wood, 80-90% in bleached paper kraft pulps, and 92-98% in so-called "dissolving" pulps, produced by purification of bisulfite pulps or kraft pulps made after acid prehydrolysis of wood.
