4. Potential markets for nanocellulose

Nanocellulose's properties (mechanical, rheological, optical, film-forming) make it an interesting material for many applications, with great potential for an emerging industry. The following is a non-exhaustive list; it is difficult to classify these applications by degree of success, as this information is difficult to grasp.

  • Composites: as we have already seen, nanocellulose's properties make it an interesting material for reinforcing plastics. Very thin polymer films with good mechanical properties and functionality can be obtained.
