4. Summary

To achieve clean, precise glass cutting using a conventional cutting wheel, it's important to follow a few simple principles. As illustrated in this article, proper adjustment or control of the cutting wheel parameters (geometry, load, life, oil, etc.) is important to obtain good cutting quality. For example, the thinner the glass, the lower the angle and load on the cutter wheel.

Due to ever-increasing requirements, new applications and the variety of glass compositions, cutting methods are constantly evolving (diamond cutting, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, etc.). Numerous research and development activities on glass cutting methods are aimed at achieving cleaner or more complex cuts, at the lowest possible cost.
