Stained glass ; Stained-glass
Glass pieces (2 to 4 mm thick) cut into various shapes according to a pre-established design (cardboard), translucent or transparent, colored or not, and held together by a network of leads. Glass pieces can be painted (grisaille, silver yellow, enamels, cold paints).
Alteration; Alteration
Chemical modification of the surface of the material under the effect of water, environmental and mechanical stimuli.
Interdiffusion/Lixiviation/Selective dissolution; Interdiffusion/Leaching/Selective dissolution
Alteration, hydration and dealkalization of glass lead to preferential extraction of modifiers, the most mobile elements in the lattice with the weakest bonds to the matrix. These are generally replaced by protons and hydrated protons....
