3. Electrostatic impregnation technology
3.1 Principle and operation
Based on the application of an alternating electric field, D-Preg technology uses the phenomena of electric charges and ionization to accelerate powders inside porous or fibrous structures with a certain pulse. This principle is applicable to various types of porous structures, mainly non-wovens, open-cell foams or papers. Applications in the technical textiles sector are the most numerous, with impregnation of natural, synthetic or mineral fibers.
To achieve this dispersion of powder grains in the fibrous structure, D-Preg technology uses the combined effects of electrostatic processes and atmospheric plasmas of the DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) type
