3. Conclusion
The development of new reactor concepts, such as Generation IV or fusion reactors, could be one of the major challenges of the coming decades.
These new reactors bring new challenges in terms of environments and stresses, and therefore require the parallel development of new, innovative materials.
The transfer of knowledge from basic research to applied research, and from applied research to industrial production, will be crucial to the success of these new concepts, some of which need to demonstrate their industrial reliability.
